A new U.S. Air Force recruiting center has opened up in Parkway Plaza, making access to another post-high school option easier for Benicians.
The center had its official opening on Feb. 15 but originally had its offices in Vallejo, according to Staff St. LeKendra Powell.
“The contract ended, and they found a really nice area in the Benicia Parkway Plaza and thought it would be an awesome place to have a recruiting center,” she said.
Powell said the highest demand jobs are for special operations, mechanics and fiber security technicians. Applicants should be between the ages of 18 and 39.
“All you need is a high school diploma, but we are accepting college graduates as well,” Powell said.
Benicia’s Air Force Recruiting Center is located at 2030 Columbus Parkway in the Parkway Plaza. The office is open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., although appointments can be made on a case by case basis. The center is also located between recruitment offices for the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps. For more information, contact Powell at 280-1417.
